More than 230 competitors, KidzWish ambassadors and family members participated in the 3.6 kilometre and 5.4 kilometre fun run events on Saturday, which are in their second year.
Children, families - and the occasional four-legged companion - pounded the pavement along the seaside track, which took them from the Lang Park starting line in a loop around Flagstaff Hill and back to WIN Stadium.
The events were part of the three-day Trithegong triathlon festival , including "Miniman", sprint and Olympic distance triathlons to encourage people of all ages and fitness levels to "have a go".
KidzWish Foundation events manager Glen Meznaric said the fun runs, which raised around $5000 for the KidzWish Foundation, were a great opportunity for the community to learn more about the charity and who they help.
He said the fund-raising was important but so was the interaction.
"A lot of people came up and talked to us and were interested to talk to the families and see how KidzWish has helped them in their different situation, so I think the community connection and the additional awareness is just as important as the money raised."
