Fire and magic will light up Industry nightclub on Friday night, with a circus-themed revue show bringing some forgotten art forms to the city.
The Wollongong Troublemakers event will host a bevy of burlesque performers, fire eaters, cage dancers and magicians at the Victoria Street club, further boosting the region's quietly blossoming vaudeville and variety community.
"There was a void for something like this in Wollongong, so I thought an event with many different performers would be interesting," said event organiser Jackel Aitchison.
"The performers are all great showgirls who have won a lot of awards."
Fire eater Sofonda Blackmen has been practising her craft for 25 years. She said until recently, there were few local opportunities for such performers to show their skills, but the emergence of several cabaret evenings and burlesque schools had led to a blossoming local cabaret community.
"It's great to get local work. There was nothing like this a little while ago," Ms Blackmen said.
"I would like to see all the small groups work together on events like this."
