The man is accused of sending inappropriate images during their online exchanges.
Rosehill and Lake Illawarra detectives searched a house at Albion Park Friday, seizing a laptop, mobile phone and clothing.
The man, now 31, was arrested in Kiama and was charged at Lake Illawarra Police Station with grooming a child under 16 for unlawful sexual activity.
He was bailed to appear in Albion Park Local Court April 9.
