Illawarra seniors showed off their dancing moves for a good cause on Monday.
The seniors were taking part in the UnitingCare's Big Move event at Unanderra.
More than 1200 people registered statewide to participate in the inaugural event, which kicked off 2014 Seniors Week.
UnitingCare Ageing director Steve Teulan said Big Move was dedicated to raising awareness and much needed funds for dementia.
"With one in 10 people over 65 in Australia currently estimated to have dementia and the numbers set to rise, UnitingCare wanted to do something aimed at energising the mind and stimulating the brain," Mr Teulan said.
Participants improvised their own moves as well as dancing to a routine choreographed by Australian ballroom dancer Alana Patience.
IRT is also holding events to celebrate Seniors Week, which started with a ballroom dancing class at IRT Links Seaside.
IRT will take the ballroom dancing roadshow to three other South Coast and ACT locations during Seniors Week.
