An image of the woman "mid act" was uploaded to Facebook and went viral in regional Victoria, being viewed thousands of times.
A copy of that image was obtained by Warrnambool police who are making investigations into the identity of the woman.
On Monday Sergeant Andrew McOrist requested the woman get in contact with Warrnambool police.
"It's really disgusting behaviour. There are two taxis in the image. I've talked to the driver of the second taxi and we are in the process of getting in touch with the taxi driver who was transporting the woman," he said.
"There are lines of inquiry being followed up. I would request the woman come forward rather than us have to hunt her down. We have an address where she was dropped off."
Sergeant McOrist said the image was clearly offensive and police investigations would continue.
