Fridays are usually a cause for celebration, but if you enjoy your long lingering afternoons and balmy evenings, March 21 may be your least favourite Friday of the year.

March 21 marks the autumnal equinox in the southern hemisphere, the point of the year when the length of day and night become almost equal.

The sun will rise a little later and set a little sooner each day until the winter solstice in June.
