The season may be drawing to a close but members of the Kiama Downs Surf Club are as busy as ever in their efforts to raise funds for Surf Life Saving.

The club is encouraging people to get behind Boardies Day this Friday.

By wearing boardshorts to work or school, people can raise funds for Surf Life Saving and win prizes.

On Friday, Kiama Downs club members will visit schools and shops in the Kiama and Minnamurra area, distributing brochures on how to get involved and make a donation.

The club's duties continue for another month and last week the club was involved in the rescue of a bodyboarder in heavy seas.

Club captain Josh Douglas said the beach was closed at the time but there was plenty of surf about and one bodyboarder was filming another in the surf.

The man doing the filming got caught in a rip and was rescued by club members in an inflatable rescue boat and taken to shore and given oxygen.

More information about Boardies Day is available at www.boardiesday.com.au and the Kiama Downs club's website.
