More than 100 friends and family members paid tribute to Australian actress Wendy Hughes at a memorial service at Sydney Theatre Company on Sunday afternoon.

Veteran actors Jack Thompson and Bryan Brown, producer and actor Tony Llewellyn-Jones and publisher Deborah Thomas attended the service at the Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf, overlooking the harbour. John Waters sang Bob Dylan's Forever Young and a tribute from award-winning director Paul Cox, whom she worked with on films Salvation and Kostas, was read to the crowd.
The Melbourne-born television, film and stage star lived in Wombarra.
She acted in the films My Brilliant Career, Newsfront and Lonely Hearts (also directed by Cox) was 61 when she died of cancer earlier this month.
Brown announced Hughes' death to an audience at Sydney Theatre Company's Travelling North on March 8, inviting the audience to a standing ovation.
"Wendy's 'furious' life was coming to an end too quickly,'' her family said in a statement. ''Two weeks before her death she was planning a trip to Paris.''
