Shrugging off last week's triple tyre punctures, Ben Allen bounced back with a dominant victory in Sunday's X-Adventure race in Dunsborough, WA.
The Wollongong endurance specialist led from start to finish, claiming line honours by 18 minutes.
He completed the 1.5km ocean swim, 12km coast/trail run and 22km mountain bike ride in a course record time of 2hr 18min 37sec.
Allen had endured bad luck during a race in the Philippines the previous week, settling for third place after being forced to change tyres three times.
That only made him hungrier for success.
"The course is amazing; rock-hopping along the coast, being able to pick up a bit of speed on the trail section of the run and the mountain bike course is a mountain biker's dream," the 27-year-old said.
Allen had double cause for celebration after his English girlfriend Jacqui Slack won the women's race by 14 minutes.
