Why did you apply for an IAS scholarship?
I applied for the IAS scholarship because I wanted to improve my training techniques that hopefully can make me a better competitor in surf lifesaving. I felt that the IAS had the skills and expertise that could help me accomplish these achievements.
What is your pre-competition routine and how long have you been doing this?
Getting prepared for a competition involves a lot of training. This means getting up at 5.30am five days a week for a training session in the pool and other training sessions in the afternoon such as board training, iron training, ski training, gym and erg training sessions.
When and how did you start your sport?
I started surf lifesaving when I was about six years of age just at Kiama Surf Club as a nipper then when I turned 13, I moved to Warilla-Barrack Point Surf Club where I started training and competing seriously and have done this for the past three years now.
What are your plans beyond school?
After school, I would like to get a carpentry apprenticeship, one that hopefully allows me to keep my normal training schedule as I would like to keep competing.
