Police have reminded residents to not share their credit card details with strangers over the phone after an 80-year-old Dapto woman was scammed.
The woman received a phone call about 7pm on Monday from a man claiming to be a Telstra representative.
The man told the woman her internet connection would be terminated unless she started paying a monthly fee of $5.90 for internet protection.
After providing her credit card and driver’s licence details, the woman became suspicious and began asking further questions.
Police said the man became aggressive before the woman hung up and contacted Telstra.
She was told no Telstra representative had called her.
The woman then cancelled her credit cards and reported the incident to police.
