PHOTOS: Wollongong rises to bake-off challenge

It was rolling pins at 20 paces at Wollongong TAFE on Friday as the Illawarra team attempted to defend its title in the NSW Bake Skills competition.

The winning team will represent NSW at the Fine Food Fair in Melbourne in September, with the top-performing state representing Australia in the Asian division of the World Pastry Cup in Singapore.

Last year, the Wollongong team - Jessica Timpano and John Reminis - took out the national competition, baking treats inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

Illawarra TAFE's Amelia Preston was announced as the winner in the pastry cooking section on Friday night.
