Emergency services were called to a Derribong Drive address at 7pm, following reports lightning had struck a two-storey brick and tile home.
‘‘There were three people home at the time but thankfully no-one was injured and they were safely evacuated,’’ Fire and Rescue NSW Wollongong Inspector John Hawes said.
‘‘There was a fire in the roof space so we had crews from Wollongong and Unanderra attend and they have used a thermal imaging camera to identify where the fire was and have put the fire out.’’
Electricity to the house had to be cut due to the amount of electrical damage inside.
