The Bureau of Meteorology’s weather station at Illawarra Regional Airport in Albion Park recorded 342.2 millimetres of rain for the month – down on its highest March rainfall of 422.2mm recorded in 2011, but well up on the long-term mean of 118.2mm.
Kiama recorded 306.2mm in March, the highest amount recorded since the bureau’s weather station was moved to its current Bombo Headland location in 2002, and close to double Kiama’s mean over that period of 165.1mm.
The weather station at Bellambi recorded 290.4mm, a record for March for that location and well above the long-term mean of 106.6mm.
The wet weather isn’t over yet, with showers and possible storms forecast for later this week.
