Nathanial Harris, a PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong, explains cancer in the three-minute clip, which was created as an entry in the international Fame Lab competition, a communications contest which seeks to find new voices in science, maths and related fields.
The clip shows Harris sauntering through labs at UOW in gloves and and other protective gear, describing cancer metastasis to the beat.
‘‘It’s quite a mouthful to say man, but what the hey,’’ Harris raps.
‘‘It’s know as the plasminogen activation pathway.’’
Harris performed as MC Kinetic in the Austinmer hip hop outfit Mass Effect until recently, when his studies appeared to sideline his musical efforts.
The clip, posted to YouTube on Sunday, has picked up more than 1500 views.
