A new development featuring Torrens title semi-detached homes in central Kiama is now selling off the plan through Ray White Kiama and Vodaland.

Ray White Kiama agent Robert Moore said the development titled Kiama Place, at 12 Elimatta Place, offered eight different designs of four- and five-bedroom homes.

The development comprises 32 homes, and they are due to be completed in 2015.

Mr Moore said stage one of the selling campaign had started.

"We are releasing 12 homes and four different designs in this initial period. Price expectations start from $630,000," he said.

"There really is a shortage of land to build on in the centre of Kiama. This is a chance to secure a brand new home in a very central part of town."

The luxury properties are designed by Sydney-based Weir Phillips Architects.

The land ranges from 300 square metres to 460 square metres. Kiama Place is being developed by Kiama Gardens Pty Ltd and Austra Pty Lt.

Listed with Joshua Kersten, the home is open for inspection on Saturday from 11am to 11.30am and from 2pm to 2.30pm. It will go to auction on site on April 17 at 5pm.

Raine and Horne Wollongong also recently sold the former Commonwealth Bank building at 243 Crown St, Wollongong.

Mr Kersten said it was sold for more than $6 million to a private investor in an off-the-market deal.

The building has more than 3000sq m of office space.

Mark Jackson, the owner and principal of Jackson Residential, is celebrating 20 years of selling property in the Illawarra.

Jackson gained valuable experience working at other agencies before opening his own business last year, specialising in the Wollongong market.

Jackson hits 20

He started in real estate in 1994 working with Susie McDiarmid at Bevans Figtree.

"I always had an interest in the industry and it just opened up from there," he said.

After two years at Bevans, Jackson spent nine years at Southern Estates with Ted Hanson, followed by a stint with Davids Real Estate.

Before real estate, Jackson was a plumber and then spent 10 years working in the hospitality industry, including stints in Europe.

"I love the people aspect of my job," he said. "I haven't felt this invigorated in the work environment for a long time. I'm enjoying getting back out and helping people with their transactions of moving, buying and selling."

Support for Marko

The Building Hope for Marko campaign will get support from the McGrath Estate Agents Wollongong and Thirroul team at the Thirroul Seaside Festival on April 5-6.

The team will be there on Saturday and Sunday, serving freshly made popcorn, fairy floss and refreshments and giving out balloons.

Instead of selling at fixed prices, the team will be asking for coin donations to go to the Building Hope for Marko foundation.

"We have decided to donate proceeds to the foundation after hearing how the local families' lives have been turned upside down," said McGrath Estate Agents Wollongong and Thirroul principal Trever Molenaar.

In 2012, Marko Krleski, aged 23, became ill and suffered multi-organ failure, septic shock and damage to his brain. He has been getting intensive rehabilitation - physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy - and still needs 24-hour care.
