An 85-year-old woman is dead and two other women are in a critical condition following a two-car crash in the Southern Highlands.

The crash happened on the Old Hume Highway at Braemar just after 12pm Saturday.
The 85-year-old woman was the sole occupant of the first car, while a 66-year-old woman and 72-year-old woman were the occupants of the second car.
NSW Police said the 85-year-old died at the scene.
The other two women were trapped from some time following the crash.
One was flown to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition, while the other was taken by road to Liverpool Hospital.
Police will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and prepare a brief for the information of the Coroner.
