After running operations from a building behind City Central Presbyterian Church in Wollongong for 15 years, the church has told the eisteddfod committee it requires the space again.

Eisteddfod president Tony Purdon said there were no hard feelings towards the church and the organisation would begin searching for new premises.

"We had the space rent-free for 15 years, we just paid for utilities. We knew we couldn't be there forever," Mr Purdon said.

"The church needs the space back, so we are looking for a suitable place for meetings and administration."

Church pastor Brett Richardson said the building was required to house administration facilities for a new church initiative, a community-based aged-care project.

"We hope the eisteddfod can find another arrangement like they have with us, where they can occupy a space cheaply," Mr Richardson said.

Mr Purdon said the timing was inconvenient, with the church requiring the building by the end of April and the Wollongong Eisteddfod approaching in June.

However, a call for help on Facebook had already netted several possible leads for a new home.
