The accident occurred about 10.20am when a car and car-carrying truck collided on Masters Road, near the southbound off-ramp of the Princes Motorway.
Wollongong Fire Station officer Greg Shepherd said fire crews were called to help remove a 57-year-old woman from the car.
‘‘The lady in the car had injuries which the ambulance crew thought required careful removal from the vehicle,’’ station officer Shepherd said.
‘‘She wasn’t actually trapped but we needed to get better access so that we could remove her without manipulating her spine too much.
‘‘We made sure that the car was stabilised and removed the side panel from the car so ambulance crews had better access to remove her from the vehicle.’’
The woman had a suspected fractured clavicle and tingling in the arm. She was in a stable condition in Wollongong Hospital.
