Alby the albino python will be one of the many snakes on show at the largest reptile show in Australia this Sunday.
Even a perentie, the largest lizard in Australia, will be on display at Kembla Grange Racecourse.
With more on show and more to see, Illawarra Reptile Society secretary Jo Payne expects this year’s annual show to be the biggest and best yet.
‘‘All signs point to it being the best show yet. We will have the largest reptile show and there will be about 100 cages filled with all types of reptiles including venomous pythons,’’ Mrs Payne said.
Over 100 reptiles and frogs are entered for judging and Shoalhaven Zoo will bring along some wonderful animals for photos.
‘‘This presents a great opportunity for kids to get up close and personal with a few reptiles and sort of have a touch and feel of their favourite reptiles,’’ she said.
‘‘There will also be a monitor lizard walking around on a lead to meet and greet people.’’
All creatures great, small, furry and scaly will be on show.
Mrs Payne, who owns about 40 pythons, some frill-necked lizards, monitors and a turtle, said there would also be 10 retailers present and Neville Burns and Andrew Melrose will conduct reptile displays throughout the day.
Most people will attend the show on Sunday to buy a reptile.
‘‘There will be plenty of bargains to be had and people can actually talk to breeders who breed the snakes and get valuable information,’’ she said.
The reptile show, on April 13, runs from 10am to 3pm. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children and $25 for a family of four.
