The three-day carnival featured the best young athletes from across NSW, with Wollongong City among the best performing clubs.

Leroy Veerhuis showed his potential by winning his first state gold medal in the under-11s 200m.

Veerhuis also claimed bronze in the 60m hurdles, while high jumpers Teghan Barklay (under-15s) and Rosie Tozer (under-12s) won gold and bronze respectively.

India McKeown produced a great effort to finish sixth in the under-10s high jump.

Australian record-holder Jarrod Twigg backed up his record-setting run in the 90m hurdles last year by winning the 100m hurdles, and taking silver in the 100m and bronze in the 200m hurdles.

Twigg will join Western Suburbs' Aaron Jeffrey in representing NSW Little Athletics at the national titles.

Wollongong City's distance runners also did well at the state titles, with Liam Henderson taking gold in the 800m, 1500m and 3000m.

Scotti Hamilton won the under-15s 1500m and was beaten in a photo finish in the 800m, while James Seal (under-14s) ran well to win silver in the 1500m.

Newcomer Chris Sink finished a fine fifth in the 800m and sixth in the 1500m in the under-10s.

Under-12s sprinter Tierney Dunn won gold in the 100m and silver in the 200m, while Maya Francis claimed her first state medal with a silver in the 200m hurdles.

Jett Link finished a close fourth in a very fast under-10s 60m hurdles final, and Max Fraser was sixth in the 70m sprint.

Hannah Crinnion acquitted herself with distinction in finishing sixth in the under-11s long jump and eighth in the 100m. Brooke McCabe was seventh in the under-10s 400m final.

Wollongong City's 2013-14 season ended its presentation.

Special guests were Australia's former Commonwealth and Olympic Games steeplechaser Youcef Abdi and Youth Olympian and world championships high jumper Brandon Starc.
