The stop-start to the Illawarra Premier League campaign may have taken the gloss off Tuesday night's grand final rematch, but it won't diminish the value of three points for either side.

Both Port Kembla and Bulli are yet to chalk up victories in their only fixtures so far this season and will be hungry to get their seasons going.

Port played out a 1-1 draw with Tarrawanna a fortnight ago, while Bulli went down 2-1 to rivals Woonona on Saturday.

Bulli coach Ben Smith is hopeful that although his squad failed to get the deserved result against the Sharks, the valuable 90 minutes could play to their advantage.

"It is hard to know obviously with heavy going on the weekend, hopefully the boys aren't too sore in the legs. If they come up all right hopefully [the benefit of playing] does help us," Smith said.

"I think Port haven't played in a week-and-a-half or something like that but they will be fresh. Hopefully we just have a bit more match fitness."

Port last played on March 29 with rain also ruling out their away clash with Albion Park White Eagles on Saturday.

But Smith believes despite their lack of match-day preparation, Stuart Beedie's men will be up for the task.

"They have threats everywhere," Smith said.

"Port Kembla have got goals in their midfield and their strike force is arguably the best in the league.

"They are a solid team everywhere on the park and the boys upfront know where the back of the net is."

Smith's own squad didn't make the most of their chances in front of goal against the Sharks and were made to pay with a 2-1 defeat.

But while their gaffer was underwhelmed by the display, he was glad just to be back on the pitch playing competitive football.

"Everyone has been pretty frustrated over the past couple of weeks," Smith said.

"I think some teams have went without playing a game so we were chomping at the bit to get on the paddock.

"It was good to get some game time even though a three-day turn around isn't ideal, but we are looking forward to it."

Tuesday's rescheduled match between Fernhill and Dapto Dandaloo at Ray Robinson Field was again postponed.
