The Blueys’ Aaron Gough and Woonona’s Adam Di Pietro were dismissed in a 0-0 draw and were both given three-week bans in the Illawarra Premier League.
Di Pietro was given his marching orders after what was deemed to be a studs-up challenge, while Gough also saw red later in the fixture.
Both received a mandatory week suspension for the offence but also were given an additional two weeks because the tackles were deemed as ‘serious foul play’.
Both clubs decided it would be best to pursue the length of the suspension.
‘‘Three weeks for what they did was really harsh I thought,’’ Woonona coach Rob Bemi said.
‘‘When you are trying to get a few catch-up games in time and have a few injuries [the three weeks] really doesn’t help.’’
The cases will be heard on Wednesday.
