The first soil will be turned on the site of the GP Super Clinic in Nowra on Wednesday morning, marking the start of construction of the state-of-the-art primary health facility.
Shoalhaven Mayor Joanna Gash will be among the dignitaries at the 11am ceremony at the site of the Grand Pacific Health Centre, which will be located between the Cancer Care Centre and Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital.
Grand Pacific Health chair Dr Vicki McCartney said the new facility, which will be completed early next year, would be an exciting addition to the health precinct.
“The facility will bring together general practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals and other healthcare services in one single location,’’ she said.
‘‘After hours GP access will be part of the raft of services available at the centre.”
The centre is part of the Australian Government GP Super Clinic initiative, aimed at building a stronger primary health care system that is more efficient and lowers rates of avoidable hospital admissions.
