Three promising Illawarra drama students will attend a NIDA boot camp later this month thanks to sponsorships provided by Wollongong City Gallery.
Alinta Maguire from Bulli High School, Orlando Freitas of Figtree High, and Albion Park High's Zarina Ross Kelloway will take part in the workshops with other students from April 22-24, to be held at the gallery.
Deirdre Backhouse, arts co-ordination officer for the Department of Education and Communities, said the students would benefit greatly from the opportunity.
"The gallery approached us to sponsor students, so we asked teachers to nominate students who had shown great dramatic potential," Ms Backhouse said.
"We're very grateful to the gallery for their sponsorship."
Ms Maguire, with hopes for a career in film or theatre, said she looked forward to meeting other students with similar aspirations for the dramatic arts.
"It's a very special opportunity to learn skills, and work with other students with the same interests," she said.
