The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has launched a YouTube video, Would You Risk It? that highlights the dangers of unsafe quad bike use and is seeking the support of quad bike suppliers to pass the safety message on to their customers.
There were 60 quad bike-related deaths between 2011 and 2013, half of which were associated with recreational use and a third involving riders not wearing helmets.
One in six involved children under 14 years old.
So far this year there have been five quad bike-related deaths.
ACCC deputy chair Delia Rickard warned all riders to take safety precautions.
