Port Adelaide benefited from fresh legs late in its game at Patersons Stadium on Saturday night to beat West Coast by 14 points.

The Power was able to sub Aaron Young into the game at three-quarter-time, more than two quarters after the Eagles were forced to bench Xavier Ellis.

Port's Chad Wingard gave the Power a match-winning 14-point lead 11 minutes into the final term after receiving a free kick that could see Eagles captain Darren Glass sidelined for several weeks.

The Power kicked five of the last six goals of the game, including four in the final term.

Port had only 12 more disposals in the final term after leading by just one point at the break, but enjoyed 16 more entries into its forward 50 for the quarter.

Young supplied two of them from his six final-term possessions.

Eagle Jamie Bennell, having moved over from Melbourne after injuring his knee, played an important role in keeping dangerous Wingard quiet. And it wasn't his fault that Wingard blew the margin into double figures in the final term.

Important too were the two goals Robbie Grey kicked for the Power within five minutes in the third term.

The first came 15 minutes into the third term when Port's previous goal was about 20 minutes into the second quarter. The second of his goals gave the Power back the lead.

Earlier, Jack Darling received a couple of Easter gifts to give West Coast a two point lead at half-time.

And he threatened to blow the game apart. Port's Jarman Impey handballed to the young Eagle who was standing in the goal square to level the scores midway through the second term.

Then three minutes later his direct opponent Cam O'Shea ran over the mark after Darling had marked outside the attacking 50.

The 23-year kicked truly for his second.

And he could have kicked another just before the break, but scraped the woodwork.

If his fellow tall forward Josh Kennedy had kicked straight, the Eagles would have been more than two points ahead at the break at the result may have been much different.

Kennedy, without his trademark stutter, kicked 1.3 before the break and it wasn't any better for him after the break. He finished with 1.5 for the game.

Brad Ebert had 12 touches in the first two terms and kicked two goals, finding room at both ends of the ground. Along with Matt White, Jared Polec and Robbie Grey, Ebert kept the Power in the contest, even though the home side clearly had the run of play for much of the second term.
