A declaration made some years ago which provides protection in the form of a caveat covering verbal versus written promises.
Therefore his verbal promises not to cut expenditure on health, education, the NDIS or pensions and to not slash funding for the ABC fall within the protection of that caveat.
Perhaps the only things we can expect to be delivered come budget day will be the Abbott government sheeting blame for the budget cuts onto the previous administration and the realisation that ‘‘you get the government you deserve’’!
