Barry Gralton (Mercury, April 18) suggests karma had something to do with St George losing a football match. I think to use events of over 60 years ago to justify a mistake in a football match is drawing the longest of bows. Frankly, who cares?

The people involved in those dastardly events over 60 years ago are not to blame for an error in a football match in 2014. It is just a football match and while we all like to follow only a winning team, even the St George players put it behind them in the days after the event. So should Barry.
