Previous generations worked tirelessly for things that we are entitled to as human beings in Australia: high-standard public education (including TAFE and uni); affordable and effective healthcare systems; pensions, job-seeker and student allowances. 

Not to mention sick leave, a liveable minimum wage, four weeks’ paid annual leave, eight-hour work days, penalty rates and job security.

 Add in the UN charter of Human Rights and there is a lot we’re entitled to. I therefore pledge to not take being called ‘‘entitled’’ as a derogatory remark ever again.

 And Mr Hockey, I’m sorry you think I shouldn’t demand that to which I have a right. The age of entitlement should never end.
