AFL superstar Lance "Buddy" Franklin says his crash, which damaged five cars, was "just an accident" and he's relieved no-one was hurt.
Sydney's $10 million recruit was apologetic when he faced the media at the SCG on Thursday.
"It was just an accident and accidents do happen, and that's pretty much it," Franklin said.
He said he didn't see the parked car on the left-hand side of the road that he hit first before he damaged three others as he drove on New South Head Road in Sydney's Rose Bay about 7pm on Wednesday.
He was driving his model girlfriend Jesinta Campbell's $77,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
"I was just so thankful no-one was in the car with me or in the cars beside me," he said.
Franklin said he was neither texting nor speeding at the time.
Police interviewed Franklin and gave him a breath test, which returned a negative reading, before they issued him with a ticket for negligent driving.
The ticket attracts a fine of $405 and three demerit points. Police say investigations are continuing.
While the accident could put Campbell's ambassadorship deal for Jeep Australia at risk, Franklin said her first concern was that he was OK.
He was apologetic about the damage to the other cars and hopeful his insurance would act promptly on repairs or compensation.
He admitted he was frustrated over being back in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
"I just want to move forward as quickly as possible and get on to this week's game," he said.
His club was of the same mind; coach John Longmire indicated there would be no further action taken against him.
"The police spoke to him for half an hour after the incident and they're satisfied with what Lance said as well. So we'll get into football mode," Longmire he said.
"It was just an accident, something that happens. Thankfully no-one was hurt. You can't do much about what happened last night."
Franklin, 27, moved from Hawthorn to Sydney last October in a nine-season deal. AAP
