Four surfers had a fright on Friday morning when they spotted a shark off Fairy Meadow Beach.

They reported the shark, estimated to be about two metres in length, to lifesavers about 11.30am.
The beach was closed, and lifesavers from Fairy Meadow, Towradgi and North Wollongong sent patrol boats out.
No shark was sighted, so the beach was reopened after 25 minutes.
Fairy Meadow patrol captain Steve Tresidder said the last shark sighting had happened just before Christmas.
He said the surfers didn’t get close enough to the shark to determine the species.
