Gibson, Young reprimanded

Hawthorn defender Josh Gibson and Collingwood flanker Clinton Young are among the six players players offered reprimands by the match review panel after a week in which all players can avoid suspension.

The match-day report against Gibson for charging Richmond's Reece Conca was changed to striking by the panel, and attracted a base penalty of 125 points, or one match.

Gibson is, however, one of four players charged who are not at risk of suspension, even if they challenge the panel decision at the tribunal and fail, because they qualify for a discount for good behaviour.

If Gibson pleads guilty to the striking charge he can accept a reprimand and 70.31 carry-over points, as can Essendon's Jason Winderlich for striking Collingwood's Nick Maxwell.

Rookie Melbourne defender Alex Georgiou was also charged with striking after a grappling incident with Sydney's Lance Franklin, but can only escape with a reprimand if he pleads guilty.

Young too risks suspension if he challenges the panel verdict that he engaged in rough conduct against Essendon's Paul Chapman, after a high bump that forced the dazed midfielder-forward from the ground on Anzac Day.

The incident, which occurred as the pair battled to gain possession at the top of the Bombers' goal square, was deemed reckless, low impact and high contact.

Fremantle's Michael Johnson became the first player charged with unreasonable or unnecessary contact with an injured player in more than a year, following a weekend incident with North Melbourne's Aaron Black.

The Kangaroos forward was shuffling towards the interchange bench cradling his arm, because he had hurt his shoulder just beforehand, when he was bumped by Johnson.

The Dockers defender's good record reduced his base penalty of 125 points to 93.75, which can be cut to 70.31 points with a guilty plea.

Brisbane ruckman Trent West can accept a $900 fine for negligent umpire contact.

There were no other incidents heavily scrutinised by the panel in round six.
