A year ago more than 100 paddleboarders hit the water at Reddall Reserve near Windang Bridge at dawn as a fund-raiser for families affected by leukaemia.

The Angels at Work activity went so well, Jason and Jodie Pyke of JPD Surf are planning to do it again.
This year they have moved the event to a Saturday, May 10, and will be doing an hourly paddle all morning to give more people the chance to try paddleboarding for a cause.
Mrs Pyke said it would start with a sunrise paddle at 6am, followed by paddles at 7.30, 8.30, 9.30, 10.30 and final paddle on Lake Illawarra at 11.30.
Red Bull will also be present and Segway South Coast is looking to collect donations on segways.
Mrs Pyke said the Leukaemia Foundation would man a barbecue with food donated to the paddle by Dale Heywood, of Dwyers Mazda, and cooked by Jason Gow, of GJ Gardner Homes and other Angels at Work committee members.
‘‘Registrations need to be made on our website www.jpdsurf.com and the fee for registration is $30 including wings and hire of the board and paddle,’’ she said.
‘‘The paddle will be 45 minutes long but the sunrise paddle may be a little longer. All profits will be provided to the Angels at Work fund-raiser.’’
A group of cyclists known as the Pina Boys are also getting involved this year, led by Brian Cvetkoski.
They will start a ride from the lake at dawn, donning lycra and wings to help the cause.
Mrs Pyke decided to help the Leukaemia Foundation after she lost her father Bruce Baker to leukaemia in February 2013.
At that time she and her husband made a commitment to use their business in any way they could for the cause.
JPD Surf began community activities once a month to offer people such as leukaemia patients, who would not normally be able to paddleboard, a chance to give it a try.
Mrs Pyke then heard about Angels at Work and contacted founder Beti Krsteski, of Angel Recruitment, about whether she could run a paddleboard event to help raise money.
This year they are also looking at a similar event in Newcastle the following weekend, where Angels at Work is being held for the first time.
In Wollongong, the annual fund-raiser starts on Friday, May 9, with a sunrise corporate breakfast at Diggies.
Individuals who wish to be an angel collector can grab their wings and start collecting gold coins on the streets or visiting workplaces.
Some businesses are hosting their own Angels at Work events.
Anyone interested in becoming an angel for an hour or two or a whole day is encouraged to register at everydayhero.com .au/event/angelsatwork.
By doing so they can also start collecting donations online.
