The 17-year-old was found lying on the side of the road about 1am with critical head injuries, which police believe were the result of a collision with a car.
Since then, a police strike force has been formed to investigate the incident, and April-lee’s condition has been upgraded to stable.
Lake Illawarra police inspector Steve Worthington said CCTV footage was still being reviewed, and police were continuing to appeal for any information from the public.
“Police are still investigating every line of inquiry they can in trying to establish what took place,” he said.
April-lee was wearing cream-coloured cargo pants, a khaki-coloured jacket and brown sandals and was carrying a black handbag when she was injured.
She was walking home from her boyfriend’s house, located a short distance from her home, when she was injured.
Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
