The event started with a corporate breakfast at Diggies on Friday, where the Illawarra Mercury's new general manager, Corinne Whiteman, outbid everyone to secure a Dee Kramer photo of angels paddleboarding on Lake Illawarra.
West Street Psychology's Merrylord Harb-Azar picked up a Segway tour and event founder and Angel Group managing director Beti Krsteski a tandem skydive from Warren Windsports in an auction run by Daniel Hastings, of MMJ, that raised close to $1000.
West Street Psychology and Finance Control also helped kick-start the collection as gold sponsors with a $2500 donation each, and other large donations from South Coast Private, McKeon Swim Centre, Alexander Michaels, GM Fabrication, Remondis, Cringila Village Pub, Dwyers Mazda and Susan Stephens Back To Basics Business Training in Newcastle.
Scarborough Hotel and Symbio Wildlife Park put on a special treat for one young leukaemia patient, Tiana Garvin, and her family; and Jodie and Jason Pyke, of JPD Surf, hosted a Paddle Like an Angel paddleboard fund-raising event on Lake Illawarra with help from Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba and GJ Gardner Homes Illawarra manager Jason Gow.
Online donations will remain open until the end of the month so people can still participate by registering or making donations at everydayhero.com.au/event/angelsatwork.
