An Illawarra Mercury petition to NSW Attorney-General Brad Hazzard to place convicted "Bulli rapist" Terry John Williamson under supervision for the rest of his life had received 1295 signatures by 8.30pm on Wednesday.

The petition was started after Williamson's first victim spoke to the Mercury about what happened to her and the ongoing effect it has had on her life. Now 38, the woman was just 13 years old when she was brutally attacked.
Williamson went on to assault another 10 people, including children as young as five, before he was brought to justice.
In 1991 he was sentenced to a maximum 24 years in jail. Williamson was released on parole with strict supervision orders two years ago. However, those orders ended when his original sentence expired last week.
On May 7, the NSW Attorney-General sought to have a supervision order imposed on Williamson.
The NSW Supreme Court placed a 28-day interim supervision order imposing a number of conditions, while Williamson undergoes psychiatric examination. It will consider the matter again next month.
