Like two heavyweight boxers trading blows, the battle between Bulli and Dapto Dandaloo looks set to go the distance.
As the season reaches the halfway point, the high-flying pair have put a buffer on their opposition at the top of the league.
The Fury trail Bulli by two points at the summit, but Norm Boardman's men have a game up their sleeves against Bellambi on Monday night.
They could have risen above the northern suburbs club with a win in a catch-up game last Thursday but went down 1-0 to South Coast United.
Bulli played the same United outfit on Sunday and came away with a 4-0 win.
But the Fury were quick to rebound by taking care of Woonona in a 3-0 victory of their own. The win saw Dapto Dandaloo move six points clear of the Sharks, who are third on the ladder.
But despite the gap, Fury coach Boardman wasn't getting drawn into talk that the season's outcome was a battle between two.
"I'm still of the opinion that there are some good teams here and they have proven that they can, on their day, really come out and play well and cause problems," Boardman said
"It is still open. It might look like a two-horse race but it is still open."
Boardman maintained it would be the team which got the basics right that would lift the League Championship crown.
"It is about consistency but it is also about getting those little one per centers," Boardman said.
"If you get more of them right than the other team, then you will win."
