Wolves captain Jacob Timpano is in line to make his return from a hamstring injury when the South Coast meet Sutherland Sharks at WIN Stadium on Sunday.

The former A-League defender has spent the past month on the sidelines after coming off in the second half of the club's round seven loss to Blacktown Spartans.

He came through a full 90-minute shift with the Wolves' under 20s last weekend without any issues and has put himself in the selection frame for Sunday's clash.

The skipper was on the teamsheet when the Sharks defeated his men 2-1 in the second round of the season.

And he believes his squad took enough out of the clash to test the fourth-placed outfit on home turf.

"It was after the first round when we got touched up and it was probably one of our better performances of the year," Timpano said.

"We were up 1-0 with about 15 minutes to go and two silly mistakes cost us the game.

"They are always a tough team to play but we can take some encouragement from the first game where we probably dominated the game."

After defeating the South Coast for their first win of the season, Sutherland managed four wins and a draw from six matches.

But in recent weeks that form has dwindled, as they've picked up just four points from a possible 12 against some of the competition's title contenders.

"They [Sutherland] got beat last week in injury time, so they will want to turn that around," Timpano said.

"We knocked them out of the Cup, so they will be coming down to try and get a bit of revenge from that as well."

Timpano was absent from that penalty shoot-out Cup triumph, a result which put the Wolves on the path to qualifying for the FFA Cup.

The injury break also coincided with the Wolves' four-game road stretch in the NSW National Premier League.

On Sunday, the Wolves will be looking to build off a strong performance as they finally return home for the first of a packed home schedule in their massive Waratah Cup semi-final stoush with Manly United at Macedonia Park on Wednesday evening.

A win would see them progress to the final at Lambert Park and improve their seeding for the FFA Cup draw.
