South Coast rapper tags along with Harvey Weinstein

Former Nowra High School student Corey Webster didn’t go to year 12, but that hasn’t stopped him from being accepted into Harvard.

The young rapper was offered a three-month internship at the prestigious Ivy League university.

Later this month Mr Webster will fly to Cambridge and from there begin to learn from American film producer and Academy Award winner Harvey Weinstein.

“My internship involves shadowing Harvey Weinstein while he is working on the musical production Finding Neverland for Broadway,” Mr Webster said.

“I will be studying composition. I’m stoked, I never thought I would go back to school.

“I’ve composed a few short films and plays so it will be good to see how a big show comes together.”

Mr Webster was offered the Harvard internship by the group involved in sending him to Los Angeles recording studio in 2010.

“We caught up last time they were in Australia and they asked me if I was ready for another trip the America. Of course I said yes.

“A few months later I got a call to say they got me an internship at Harvard.

“I appreciate all types of music and I love learning.

“I trip out on it sometimes I never thought I’d be going to Harvard.

“I’m putting an album together so I’ll be taking everything with me. All I’m putting in my bag is my music stuff and a couple of pairs of clothes,” he said.
