It seems Wollongong shoppers will not have to wait until GPT's $200 million mall expansion opens for an influx of new stores, with several high-end fashion chains setting up in the existing centre.

Signs for accessories brand Mimco and fashion brands Oxford and Trenery have been installed, and clothing and lifestyle store Country Road is setting up shop next to Myer.
Stationery brand Kikki K will open on Level 3 of Wollongong Central, which GPT says will be a "revitalised fashion precinct".
The stores - most of which are owned by the Country Road Group - are scheduled to open next month.
GPT project retail manager Benjamin Hughes said he was "delighted" about the shops opening, which he believed would help keep shoppers from travelling to centres outside the Illawarra.
"[This] really does confirm Wollongong Central as the Illawarra's leading centre for fashion," he said.
Meantime, it is less than two weeks until one of Wollongong's key thoroughfares shuts down to allow street works associated with GPT's $200 million West Keira mall expansion.
On July 1, Keira Street between Market and Crown streets will close to traffic for three months, allowing the developer to widen the footpaths, complete a tunnel under the road and finish the street scapes for some of its new cafes and bars, which will open out on to the strip.
The street works and new mall are due to open to the public by the end of September.
