New Wollongong Hawks owner James Spenceley has sent an impassioned letter to club members, outlining his plans to take the team forward.
Spenceley was unveiled as the Hawks' knight in shining armour last week, becoming the club's first private owner in five years.
Wollongong struggled to make ends meet under the "community-ownership" model and faced possible extinction within a year or two if Spenceley hadn't come to the rescue.
The 37-year-old quickly began talks with Hawks chairman Peter Bahlmann two months ago.
Bahlmann and his fellow board members speak highly of Spenceley.
A Sydney-based multi-millionaire who made his fortune through his telco Vocus Communications, Spenceley wrote about his intentions to "forge a strong relationship with everyone involved in the club".
He also said the NBL would expand to 12 teams in in the 2015-16 season and that "it is time [for the Hawks] to take it to another level ... one that can be shared by all involved.".
