Former Illawarra junior star Renae Camino enjoyed a happy homecoming on Saturday at the Snakepit, leading Norths to a 72-67 victory over the Kittyhawks.
Camino recently returned from her honeymoon and was probably wondering if she might be a little rusty.
But the 27-year-old destroyed the Kittyhawks, notching 38 points and nine rebounds to keep her side top of the ladder.
"Renae Camino, we couldn't stop her," Illawarra coach Cheryl Lowe said.
"We tried different things on her but nothing seemed to work. She was just in the zone."
Camino has played for the Opals and spent almost 10 years with different clubs in the WNBL.
The former Keira High student was drafted by the Houston Comets in 2006 but a knee injury robbed her of any court time.
She was drafted again in 2009 by Sacramento but returned to Australia without playing a WNBA game.
The 178cm forward leads the WBL in scoring with 28 points per game, while her 4.8 assists average ranks second. She is also second in field goal percentage and three-point percentage.
Georgia Ohrdorf led Illawarra with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Olivia White finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Illawarra slipped to 4-10 in the men's competition after losing 74-65 to Norths.
