Formed in Perth in 1981, the Eurogliders produced a string of hits including Heaven, We Will Together, The City of Soul and Can't Wait To See You.
"It was a great time for Australian music," vocalist Grace Knight said.
"We were playing three or four gigs every week to sold-out crowds. Not only here in Australia, but also overseas."
The Eurogliders disbanded in 1989, and Knight carved a successful career in jazz, while guitarist and founding member Bernie Lynch began composing music for theatre and film.
Now 25 years later, the Eurogliders have reunited for a national tour, which will take in many of Australia's major regional centres, including Wollongong.
So why get back together after all these years?
"Glenn A. Baker called me to see if we would be interested in getting back together to support the Boomtown Rats for a national tour," Knight says.
"Unfortunately they cancelled the tour, but since we had already got the band together and had begun rehearsing, we decided to go ahead on our own."
Knight said it is an absolute delight to be once again working alongside Lynch.
"Although there was the odd moment or two of discomfort in the first couple of weeks, we quickly realised that our music, and our love of performing, will always hold us together. We just bounce off each other, and our vocals seem to blend so well together. Bernie is an amazing craftsman of music. It's fantastic to be back on stage with him again. I'll look to my left, we'll catch each other's eye, and we're back where we were 20 years ago."
The Eurogliders were always well-known for their energetic live shows, and Knight appears to have lost none of the energy that captivated audiences when the band were in their prime.
A new album is also set for release in the next few months, containing reworked arrangements of their classic hits, as well as a few new songs.
"We wanted to reintroduce ourselves," Knight said. "We decided a great way to do that would be to re-record some of our old hits, but in a more intimate and personal way."
This will be followed up with another album, featuring all new material, and due for release sometime in 2015.
