The Gerringong year 6 girls travelled to chilly Queanbeyan recently for the South Coast regional finals and won all six games.
Team members Brianna Cairns, Carla O'Meley, Bethany Chapman, Chloe Egan, Kailee Hazelwood, Sienna Thomson, Lilli Williams, Danni Cook, Ella Patterson and Marley Smith had to adjust to just a 2 degrees temperature but won a number of close games to take the title.
In the opening round Gerringong beat Bombala Public School 20-10, then beat Stella Maris Catholic Primary School in a thriller 11-10.
The South Coast school then had a 16-8 win over Broulee Public School in round three before advancing to the semi-finals with a 17-13 final round win over Bowral Public School.
Gerringong had to face host school Queanbeyan Public School in their semi-final and won 17-15 to book a spot in the final against Nowra-based Illaroo Road Public School.
Gerringong again showed poise under pressure to win 16-12 and claim the year 5/6 pool as South Coast regional champions.
Gerringong now represent South Coast at the state titles in Sydney on September 16.
The players and supporters thanked the school's netball teacher, Jenny Dougall, plus Deb Cairns for their coaching and Anna Dougall for umpiring.
Despite freezing conditions the parents who made the trip to Queanbeyan made a huge difference in cheering on the team.
