Police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to talk to after a fraudulent cheque was allegedly used to pay for a car in Fairy Meadow earlier this year.

A man used a fraudulent cheque when he bought a dark grey Audi RS5 from another man in Fairy Meadow in early May, police said.

The man then later discovered the cheque was fraudulent and he contacted police.

Detectives  have released CCTV images of a man who they believe can help with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Asian appearance, aged between 25 to 35 years, approximately 160-170 centimetres tall, of medium build with short black hair.

He is shown wearing a black suit and a gold chain around his neck.

Police believe the incident may be linked to similar incidents in Rose Bay and Bondi.

Officers are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
