EARLIER: A man believed to be aged in his 70s has been injured after he was struck by a taxi on Monday.
An Ambulance NSW spokeswoman said the man was treated for injuries to his hip and leg on the corner of Keira and Illawarra streets in Port Kembla at 6.20am.
There were unconfirmed reports the man also suffered head injuries, she said.
He was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.
Lake Illawarra police inspector Andrew Koutsoufis said they believed the man had walked out in front of the taxi.
The crash unit attended the incident.
