Police discovered habitual offender Matthew Henry Spinx, 29, driving his girlfriend's Toyota Avalon above the speed limit along Cordeaux Road at Figtree on Friday evening.
When he was pulled over, Spinx fled from police, but was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
Spinx first lost his licence in 2006, but had so many convictions for driving while disqualified that he was not eligible to apply for a licence again until 2031.
In Port Kembla Local Court on Monday, Magistrate Michael Stoddart noted Spinx had been on parole for serious drug matters at the time of the offence.
His lawyer, Tyrone Phillips, said Spinx had not intended to drive that day, having enlisted a friend to drive the car for him.
However the friend had been called away urgently due to a family illness, leaving Spinx with the vehicle, which he had promised would be returned that day.
"The friend let him down ... he took the risk [in driving the car] and was caught," Mr Phillips said.
Magistrate Stoddart sentenced Spinx to six months' jail dating from July 18. He will be released on parole in January.
Spinx was also disqualified from driving for a further two years on top of his current disqualification period.
