Kanye West decided to pursue Kim Kardashian after being inspired by a Will Ferrell movie.
West, who considers himself to be one of the world's most refined celebrities, has used a quote from Ferrell’s 2008 slapstick comedy Step Brothers to describe and defend his marriage to Kardashian in a new interview with GQ magazine.
In the wide ranging Q&A, the rap star said he never lost track of what he was looking for in a relationship, even after becoming famous.
“Like they said in Step Brothers: ‘Never lose your dinosaur’. This is the ultimate example of a person never losing his dinosaur. Meaning that even as I grew in cultural awareness and respect and was put higher in the class system in some way for being this musician, I never lost my dinosaur,” he said.
“You mean to tell me that this girl with this f...ing body and this face is also into style, and she's a nice person, and she has her own money and is family-oriented? That's just as cool as a f...ing fighter jet or dinosaur! And just as rarely seen.”
West, who is focusing on producing a high-end fashion line, a collaboration with adidas and finishing a new album, suggested while he may be the orator in Team Kimye, Kim is the oracle.
“One of the reasons why I think that me and Kim are very powerful together isn't just the concept of celebrity or this mega rap star and this mega-beautiful pop star. It's something I explain to my girl: She is who she is. I am who I am,'' he said.
“What I had to learn from Kim is how to take more of her advice and less of other people's advice. There's a lot of Kim K skills that were added. In order to win at life, you need some Kim K skills, period.”
The Yeezus star also defended his 45-minute wedding toast in which he compared the trappings of modern day celebrity to racism.
“What I talked about in it was the idea of celebrity, and celebrities being treated like blacks were in the '60s, having no rights, and the fact that people can slander your name. I said that in the toast. And I had to say this in a position where I, from the art world, am marrying Kim. And how we're going to fight to raise the respect level for celebrities,” he said.

Is actor Bradley Cooper engaged?
US actor Bradley Cooper and supermodel Suki Waterhouse have sparked engagement rumours after they were spotted wearing matching gold rings.
The Hangover star has been dating the British model since last year after meeting at an awards show in London. They fuelled gossip about the state of their relationship during a night out in the British capital earlier this month.
Waterhouse was spotted wearing a gold band on her wedding finger as they left London hotspot The Chiltern Firehouse, and Cooper had a matching trinket on his left hand. The couple haven’t been seen wearing the gold band since.
Reports in the UK suggest the jewellery is a symbol of the pair’s commitment rather than an official engagement.

Miley Cyrus silences death hoax
Pop star Miley Cyrus has debunked Internet rumours about her ‘‘death’’ by posting a topless photo of herself on Instagram.
An advertising scam on Facebook over the weekend encouraged users to click on a headline which read, ‘‘(SHOCKING) Miley Cyrus Found Dead in Her Los Angeles Home! Country singer Miley Cyrus found overdosed this afternoon in her Los Angeles home.’’
Once clicked, the post directed readers to a hoax site about completing surveys for money.
A number of Cyrus’ fans fell for the fake rumours, which were given weight by the fact the singer had not reached out to her Twitter followers since Friday.
However, the Wrecking Ball hitmaker put the unfounded claims to rest on Monday when she shared a series of photos on Instagram, including a snap of herself topless, with her back to the camera, wearing just a pair of denim shorts.

Beetles kill George Harrison tribute tree
A tree planted in a Los Angeles park in memory of the late Beatles guitarist George Harrison has been killed by beetles, a city councillor has said.
Tom LaBonge, whose district includes Griffith Park, told The Los Angeles Times that the pine tree, planted in 2004, would be replaced shortly.
It had grown more than three metres in the space of a decade, only to succumb to beetles known to attack trees in the vast and popular inner-city park, the Times reported.
Harrison, the Beatles’ lead guitarist as well as a chart-topping solo artist and avid gardener, lived in Los Angeles prior to his death in 2001.
A plaque at the base of the tree read: ‘‘In memory of a great humanitarian who touched the world as an artist, a musician and a gardener’’.This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ first concert appearances in the United States.
Ringo Starr performed in Los Angeles with his All-Star Band last weekend. He’ll be followed on August 10 by Paul McCartney.
