Donna Leak from De’vine Wedding Events has teamed up with other Illawarra businesses to provide a complete wedding package gift to a family affected by cancer.
After attending a presentation on the pressures of living with cancer, Mrs Leak, who lost her nan and father to cancer, wanted to give something back to the community.
‘‘I wanted businesses to come together to give a gift to someone who deserves it,’’ Mrs Leak said.
The result is a $22,000 wedding package. Panorama House will host the ceremony and reception. Photographs will be provided by Kathleen Swinbourne, a bridal gown by Wedding Shop on the Move and groomsmen’s suits by Bonnano’s Menswear. Hair, make-up, decorations, cars and flowers are also included.
‘‘It has been fantastic and I am overwhelmed by the generosity of small businesses as no-one hesitated to help out,’’ Mrs Leak said.
The wedding package has been organised in less than eight weeks and includes 30businesses.
Mrs Leak seeks nominations for a couple battling cancer or a couple with a child under 16 suffering from cancer. The winner will be drawn on August 9.
People can nominate themselves or others at www.devineweddingevents.com.au.
